Everyone has heard or seen this absolutely unique American man who has spent years modifying his face and body. As a member of Furry Fardom, he was also widely known as the Cat, yet his chosen and spiritual name was the Stalking Cat. Originally named Dennis Avner, he spent considerably many sources to surgically modify his body to express his beliefs.
Born in Flint, Michigan, he grew up in Suttons Bay, he claimed that he was raised in a tribe and was named Cat at just 10 years old. He described his transformation as the expression of his spiritual connection to all feline species. He was just 23 when he started his journey going to extraordinary lengths to fulfil his obsession. The surgeries he had undergone were thought to be extremely painful.
Interestingly enough, he was also listed in the Guinness Book of Records for the most body modifications to resemble an animal following numerous operations, piercings and tattoos. Ultimately, his obsession led to the celebrity status and fortune. Dennis took part in programs like «Ripley’s Believe It or Not!», «Larry King Live» and «Animal Planet’s Live» that contributed to his rose to popularity.
The multiple procedures included silicone injections into his cheeks, tongue modifications, implants. His totally altered and to some extend scary appearance left everyone speechless. Unfortunately, he was found breathless in his hometown of Tonopah, Nevada after having taken his own life. This was confirmed by the New York Daily News and brought his admirers into tears and sadness. The reason why he did that remains unknown.
