The endangered tortoise, that was 80 years old became a mother for the first time

The old tortoise, that gave birth to healthy babies

Some tortoises live from 10 to 80 years. When they are old, they prefer to live without having to be responsible for new babies.

For the tortoise named Nigrita, it was the age for having babies, it’s the time, when you realise the age can just be a number.

The birth of endangered species in not only the animal’s happiness, but also any wildlife lovers, as the animals is a real hero to have babies at this age.

Nigeita lives in the Switzerland zoo. This species can live up to 150 years. They are called long-living tortoises.

Only 10 such Galapagos tortoises are left in nature. And due to a breeding program this tortoise was able to give birth to healthy babies. It is said, that these animals are able to give birth after 40 years.

Although Nigrita is old, she takes care of her babies and treats them with love.

The father of the small tortoises is Jumbo, a 54-year-old tortoise.

These animals continue to live thanks to caring people!
