Most people know that Diana Spencer called herself the “Queen of Hearts.”
In fact, this title remained closely associated with her even after her passing.
However, those who shared a home with her had a different name for the princess.
After her divorce from Prince Charles, Diana made Kensington Palace her primary residence. With this change came new staff members who affectionately referred to her as “our Lady.”
This was shared by her chief security officer, Colin Tebbut.
Colin, who worked closely with Diana for several years, became one of her most trusted confidantes and was one of the few invited to her private funeral at Westminster Abbey.
In an interview with The Sun, he shared, “She was our boss. We were a small, close-knit group of six or seven people. It wasn’t Buckingham Palace anymore, so she was truly one of us. She was our Lady.”
After the heartbreaking news in 1997, Colin, along with Diana’s family, was devastated. Yet, he understood he had one final duty to her.
He was the one who traveled to Paris to bring her body back to the UK.
