Orchids are very beautiful indoor flowers, but they need proper care to grow well and bloom. One of the best ways to help them is by using hydrogen peroxide. This simple and affordable product is useful not only in medicine but also for plant care.
Hydrogen peroxide is known for its cleaning and germ-killing properties. Although it has no color or smell, it can have a strong effect on both people and plants. When mixed with water, it becomes a great fertilizer for orchids. It contains helpful elements that support healthy growth and flowering.
Why hydrogen peroxide is good for plants:
– Helps strengthen the plant’s natural defenses
– Encourages blooming
– Adds oxygen to the soil
– Helps fight off pests and diseases
I usually buy hydrogen peroxide at the pharmacy — it’s inexpensive and easy to find. To make the fertilizer, it’s best to use distilled water, but well water will also work. I mix 2 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide with 1 liter of water. I water the orchid with this solution once a week.
Orchids also like being sprayed with this mix. For that, I use the same solution — 2 tablespoons of peroxide per 1 liter of water. I spray it on the leaves, which helps the plant absorb the nutrients more quickly.
With this kind of care, orchids grow faster and bloom more often. Hydrogen peroxide not only helps them grow but also makes them stronger, so they’re less likely to get sick or attract pests.
If I see that an orchid is starting to wilt — which could mean it’s sick — I prepare a stronger solution: 3 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide in one glass of water, plus 1 drop of iodine. I pour the mix into a spray bottle and spray the whole plant. I do it again in 5 to 7 days to get the best results.
