I Found Strange White Grains in My Bed — At First I Thought It Was Rice, But the Truth Was Far Worse

“Thought it was rice in my bed… then I looked closer” 😳🐜 What I found crawling in instead will make your skin crawl — and the photos are in the article below 👇📸

One morning, I woke up and noticed tiny white specks scattered across my bed. My first thought was simple — maybe my husband had been snacking in bed again and dropped some rice. I was ready to brush them away when something stopped me.

It turned out those “rice grains” were actually bed bug eggs.

What I learned: Bed bug eggs are tiny (around 1 mm), white, glossy, and oval-shaped — almost identical to small grains of rice. Females hide them in places like mattress seams, baseboards, and cracks in furniture.

Within 6–10 days, they hatch into larvae that immediately begin feeding on blood. While bed bugs rarely spread disease, their bites cause itching, allergic reactions, skin irritation, and even sleepless nights.

How they get inside: They can be carried home in luggage after a trip, tucked away in secondhand furniture or clothing, or even crawl in from neighboring apartments through vents or wall cracks.

How to fight them: Clean thoroughly and vacuum every corner, seam, and gap. Wash bedding and clothes in hot water (at least 60°C). Use a steam cleaner on mattresses and furniture. And the safest solution — call pest control professionals, since these insects can quickly return if not completely eliminated.

Now I understand just how lucky I was to spot those little “grains” in time. If I hadn’t looked closer, in just a week my home could have been overrun by a full-blown infestation.
