For years, this old dresser sat abandoned on the veranda collecting dust, scratches and random junk. At one point, it looked so bad that most people would have thrown it away without hesitation.
In fact, the piece originally came straight from the trash.
The woman and her husband had found the old pine-and-plywood dresser discarded outside, brought it home and eventually forgot about it completely.
But instead of getting rid of it, she suddenly decided to try giving it a second life — and the final result barely looks like the same furniture anymore.

The makeover started with a full cleanup.
She removed the old finish using ordinary dish soap and a metal sponge, then carefully sanded every rough spot and defect in the wood before fully degreasing the surface.
Even after simple sanding, the transformation had already started becoming noticeable.

The inside shelves were painted using leftover paint from another furniture project, while missing shelves were replaced with new plywood ones made by hand.
For the outside, she chose a rich “moss green” shade that instantly gave the dresser a much more elegant appearance after only two coats.
One small detail changed the look dramatically.

To hide an uneven joint along the top section, she added a simple wooden trim piece — and suddenly the entire dresser started looking far more expensive and polished.
Since several original drawers were missing, she decided to replace them with custom doors instead.
Using ordinary molding bought at a market, she built the frames herself. Then she attached metal mesh she had accidentally found at the country house, painting it gold before securing it carefully onto the doors.

The effect completely changed the character of the furniture.
Finally, she added hinges and vintage brass handles she already had stored away, giving the piece an even more stylish and glamorous finish.
Now the old dresser no longer looks like something rescued from the garbage.
Instead, it resembles a trendy designer piece that could easily stand inside an expensive modern home.
