She literally didn’t have the strength to continue on her way through the streets of the city of Philadelphia, so she lay down on the doorstep of an unfamiliar house. And it saved her life. Jack Joniken never expected this to happen. He was just spending a quiet day with his family and forgot to close the door until the end. How frightened the family was when, at four o’clock in the morning, a suspicious noise sounded at the entrance!
Jack went out to see what it was. It turned out, that a stray dog had entered the house of a young family. She was incredibly thin and limped on one leg. Despite the fact, that the couple recently had a child, and the rehabilitation of the dog was not part of the Joniken’s plans, they decided to leave the dog. The dog was named Suzy.
Suzy was immediately taken to the veterinary clinic and had a microchip implanted in her. The dog looked so emaciated and small, that at first the doctor thought it was a puppy. But the survey showed that Suzy is about nine years old.
Suzy turned out to be a very affectionate and calm dog. She regained her weight and is very kind to the little daughter of the Joniken. Therefore, the dog has become a truly full member of this small family.
By the way, she was not the only one noticed the open door that night. The cameras showed, that the passerby saw the open door of someone else’s house, worried about the well-being of the owners, went to the entrance and tried to call someone. The family didn’t hear his voice. So the man just closed the door more tightly.
Joniken were able to find that man and thank him for his concern. They are glad, that a stranger helped them keep their house in order. And although the family is incredibly happy to meet with Suzy, now the adult Joniken constantly check how their door is closed.
