Pamela Anderson, a well-known model and actress, has decided to give up makeup at 56.
Rising to fame in the early 90s due to her collaborations with Playboy, Anderson later appeared on ABC’s Home Improvement and then got her iconic role as CJ Parker on Baywatch.
Despite receiving much attention for her looks, Anderson now strives for a more ‘raw’ approach, especially with her latest project, Re/Done. Her denim brand focuses more on sustainability and upcycling and aims to embody Anderson’s vision of authenticity.
Speaking to The New York Times, Anderson emphasized her desire to create a brand that has deep meaning and is not just for profit.
Pamela Anderson showed up at a fancy Oscars party without any makeup on.
She said, “I wanted it raw, no makeup.”
This simple look is something Anderson has been doing lately, like at Paris Fashion Week and the recent Vanity Fair Oscars party. She said it’s like “peeling off the layers of my life.”
“I’m a fresh slate now, at the starting position of the next chapter,” she said. She thinks this next part of her life will be even better now that she doesn’t have to pretend to be someone she’s not.
“I’m enjoying the process of getting older,” Anderson said.
“The things that are happening to my face ᅳ a little elasticity is leaving ᅳ I’m finding humor in that,” she stated. “I feel sexier now that I have some secrets and some mystery. We don’t learn that until later in our lives.”
The remarks are the same as those Anderson shared in an interview with People in November, where she described aging as ‘Life-ing’ instead.
“Chasing youth is futile,” she said. “All we can do is embrace who we are at the moment we are in and be okay with where our feet stand right now.”
“I can just be me. It’s very freeing to be comfortable in your skin,” she continued.
While Anderson is starting a new chapter, she does not deny looking back to her past.
Talking about her latest project, Anderson said, “I believe this collection captures a snapshot of my life at that time. I was working, and I felt unstoppable.”
