Kevin Federline, Britney Spears’ ex-husband, currently holds 70 percent of the custody of their two sons.
He previously shared, “The most important thing is for their mom to be healthy and happy. If either of those isn’t the case, then it’s not the right environment for custody.”
Britney, the pop icon, has faced numerous challenges throughout her life. Despite ending the strict guardianship under her father’s control, the aftermath has continued to affect her life.
Known for her controversial past, Britney has been unable to legally contest her ex-husband’s custody rights over their sons, 16-year-old Sean and 15-year-old Jayden.
Reportedly, she hasn’t seen her boys in over a year. However, despite having custody, Kevin still needs Britney’s permission for any major decisions involving the kids.
For example, he cannot relocate with their children to Hawaii, where his current wife has been offered a job, without Britney’s formal approval.
But Kevin isn’t backing down easily. According to TMZ, he is prepared to go to court if Britney doesn’t provide consent. Moving to Hawaii requires at least a written agreement, like an email, but so far, Kevin hasn’t received any response from Britney.
Britney now has only a few days to grant the court’s approval. If she doesn’t, Kevin plans to take a different legal approach to get his way. And though Kevin is confident of winning – given his custody status – this potential move would be emotionally difficult for Britney.
Currently, the pop star is facing personal struggles as she tries to regain control of her mental health and deal with the aftermath of her fame.
On a positive note, Britney recently reunited with her mother for the first time in years, which could be a sign of healing and a step toward rebuilding her family ties.
