The week in France ended with a musical event that had everyone talking. On Sunday, February 25, 2024, Kanye West, now known as Ye, held a special event at the Accor Arena in Paris.
The famous rapper, who just released his new album Vultures 1 with Ty Dolla $ign, hosted what he called a “listening experience.” It was a huge gathering where fans could listen to the new, unreleased tracks—without Ye performing live.
According to BFMTV journalists who were there, Kanye didn’t sing or rap at all during the event. Instead, he stood on stage and silently mouthed the lyrics while the music played. The artist, who was previously married to Kim Kardashian and is now reportedly married to Bianca Censori since January 2023, also invited his 10-year-old daughter, North West, to join him. She performed a verse on the song Talking before James Blake took over.
Fans in Paris chanted, “It’s your bestie, Miss, Miss Westie,” as they showed their support. Despite being announced only 10 days before the event, the listening experience didn’t completely sell out. The Accor Arena, which can hold 20,000 people, saw ticket prices ranging from €90 to €200. BFMTV described the event as “astonishing… or concerning,” referencing the many controversies—like Kanye’s past anti-Semitic comments—that surround the artist and some controversial lyrics on Vultures 1.
Online, however, the album is performing exceptionally well. Vultures 1 has been played 56 million times, while another track, Carnival, has hit 79 million plays on Spotify, making it one of the most streamed songs.
February 25 was a busy day for the Kardashian-West family. While Kanye and North were in Paris, Saint West had the opportunity to meet soccer star Lionel Messi in Carson, California, during a match between Los Angeles and Miami. It’s definitely a unique life for this high-profile family.
