Denied a mortgage, she didn’t give up—she built a floating dream instead! 😍😲 Now, she and her kids live in a stunning house on the water, complete with three bedrooms, a kitchen, and even a rooftop yoga space! 😍 Wait until you see inside in the article below! ⬇️
Jen has been living on a boat for more than three years. Since she couldn’t get a mortgage to buy a house, she came up with her own solution—she designed and built a houseboat.
“I wanted a boat with three bedrooms, but they were hard to find, so I decided to create my own,” Jen explained.
She drew a plan herself, deciding where the windows should go. Since she has two children, she made sure there was a bedroom for each of them.
Unable to buy a house, she built a floating home with a stylish interior
Professional boat builders handled the steel construction in just seven weeks. Once finished, the boat was transported from Liverpool and carefully lowered into the water using a crane.
Jen worked on the interior herself, completing it in just 10 weeks. Altogether, from start to finish, the project took 17 weeks. The steelwork and engine cost her £87,000 ($112,000), and she spent an additional £10,000 ($13,000) on interior design and furnishings.

Jen fills up the boat’s water tank using a hose or bottled water when docked. The tank holds 1,000 liters, enough to last two weeks.
The boat’s roof serves as an outdoor space where she and her children do yoga, have meals, and relax.
Due to boating rules, she has to move her home every two weeks, covering a total of 32 kilometers in one direction each year.

Inside, Jen installed a standard IKEA kitchen with plenty of counter space for cooking.

Jen and her children don’t have a TV, so they spend more time reading. Their bedrooms include bunk beds with built-in storage.
The bathroom features a spacious double shower with a rain showerhead and a composting toilet.
Jen’s bedroom includes a full-sized double bed, a cozy spot for morning tea, and a front deck where she enjoys watching the sunset.
