We Found a Pile of Plastic Bottles, But Instead of Tossing Them, We Created Something Incredible

A bag full of plastic bottles was just waiting to be thrown out… until we decided to try something totally unexpected 🤯😏 We turned those bottles into something super useful for the country house—and you won’t believe how it turned out! 😳🫣 See the result in the article below👇

The idea to make a pouf out of plastic bottles came to us on a whim, just like many of our creative projects with my husband.

It all began during a regular cleaning session at our dacha. While sorting through the garage, we discovered a whole bag of plastic bottles that hadn’t been recycled yet.

“Look at all these bottles!” my husband said. “Maybe we can finally make something out of them.”

I loved the idea right away. Recycling is great, but creating something useful with your own hands is even better. Plus, I had been wanting a small pouf for our terrace, where we enjoy our morning coffee.

First, we sorted through the bottles, picking only ones of the same size to make sure the pouf would be even. Then we needed to figure out how to hold them together.

We ended up using Scotch tape—lots of it! Three rolls, to be exact. We stuck the bottles together in a tight cylinder to make the structure as stable as possible.

Next, we needed a soft layer. We found an old foam mattress that had been sitting in storage for ages.

We wrapped our bottle structure with the foam and secured it with fabric tape. Now, it looked like a pouf, though it still needed upholstery.

For the fabric, we used some leftover, thick material with a fun pattern from an old curtain. I cut the pieces to size, and my husband helped stretch and attach the fabric using a stapler made for furniture.

Once the pouf was finished, we placed it on the terrace, and it quickly caught the attention of our neighbors.

It turned out so well that now we’re thinking of making a few more poufs.
