This trick will help you turn ordinary plastic bottles into a beautiful decoration for your garden or home! Follow these easy steps to make a special hanging planter that will brighten up your space.
Turning Plastic Bottles Into Something New
First, peel off all labels from the bottles and wash them well. Take a knife and cut off the top part of each 1.5-liter bottle, including the neck. To make the cut edges smooth, lightly press them with a hot iron. This will remove any sharp parts.
Making the Frame
Take 13 bottle necks and join them together in a circle using a stapler. Make a ring out of thick wire, and twist the ends together with thinner wire to hold it. Fix this ring onto the bottle necks with plastic zip ties.
Add more bottle necks in layers, shaping the frame into a half-sphere. Secure each new layer with more wire rings.
To make the whole structure stronger, tie the insides of the bottles together using wire loops. This will make sure everything holds tightly and doesn’t fall apart.
Decorating the Planter
Now comes the fun part—decorating. Spray the whole planter with paint. Once it dries, cover it with a layer of clear varnish to protect it from the weather.
Tie three pieces of rope or cord to the top wire ring, spacing them evenly. Use zip ties to secure the ropes.
Screw the bottle caps back onto the necks. Cut a garbage bag in half, poke some small drainage holes in it, and place it inside the planter. Fill it with soil suitable for plants.
Hang your planter outside, plant flowers in it, and water them well. Petunias or other flowers that grow into round, bushy shapes will look especially beautiful.
