They say age is just a number—and that’s exactly what 92-year-old Anezka Kašparkova from the Czech Republic proves with her amazing hobby.
Even though she’s well into retirement, Anezka hasn’t slowed down. She spends her time painting colorful patterns on buildings in her village, turning plain walls into beautiful works of art. Her unique graffiti has become so popular that pictures of her murals have been shared all over the internet.
Anezka lives in a small village called Luka in South Moravia. She’s been painting for over 40 years. “I just want to make the world a little prettier,” she says with a smile. Every spring, she grabs her brush, a can of bright blue paint, and a ladder, then sets off to add her cheerful touch to the village walls. She doesn’t call herself an artist—she just says she’s doing what she loves.
Earlier in life, Anezka worked in farming. But she always enjoyed drawing. Now that she’s retired, she has more time to follow her passion. She doesn’t plan her designs ahead of time. Instead, she paints from her imagination. Her art follows a traditional Moravian folk style, and every piece is different.
Despite her age and frail hands, Anezka still manages to cover building after building with her signature blue floral patterns. Flowers are a big part of her work, and they bring charm to the entire village.
One of her favorite spots to paint is a small church that was built in the late 1700s. Anezka is the third person to decorate it—she learned the art from the previous village painter and now keeps the tradition alive.
Even though she’s in her nineties, Anezka doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon. Painting has become a yearly custom in Luka, and she hopes it will continue after her. In fact, a younger local woman has already started to follow in her footsteps.
Anezka’s story is a beautiful reminder that it’s never too late to do what you love—and that passion can inspire an entire community.
