People Told Him to Give Up After 42 Rejections — But His 43rd Proposal Brought the Answer He’d Dreamed Of

“He proposed 43 times — and she finally said yes” 💍😲 For seven years she kept saying no… until one moment changed everything. See the proposal that ended it all in the article below 👇📸

For seven long years, 36-year-old Luke Wintrip from Chelmsford, Essex, asked the same question over and over: “Will you marry me?” He asked it 43 times in total — and finally, his wife Sarah, 38, said “Yes.”

Luke proposed to Sarah in all kinds of places: from castles and packed restaurants to romantic dinners with musicians serenading them. But every time, she gently turned him down.

The first proposal happened just six months into their relationship — during a romantic horseback ride in Jamaica. But Sarah had just come out of a serious relationship and was raising three daughters on her own. “I loved him,” she said, “but I wasn’t ready to say yes until I was sure it was right for me and my children.”

Each time she declined, Luke got more creative. One of the most elaborate proposals took place at a deserted castle in Prague, where he decorated the space with flowers, champagne, and chocolate. Still, it didn’t work. “People told me I was trying to break him,” Sarah recalled, “but to me, it showed love. I wanted my daughters to see how much he loved their mom.”

Clips of Luke’s many proposals went viral on TikTok. One video showed Sarah hiding her face in embarrassment as he proposed in a restaurant. The caption read: “43 proposals… and now we’re getting married in two weeks.”

In 2023, Sarah asked Luke to take a break from proposing — and wait for the right moment. That moment finally came in Greenwich, at the symbolic meeting point of the Eastern and Western hemispheres. A street musician played Sarah’s favorite songs as Luke got down on one knee again and said, “This is the center of the world, and you’re the center of mine. Marry me.”

On May 17, 2025, the couple officially tied the knot.

Looking back, Sarah says she has no regrets. She advises other women not to rush into marriage. “If he’s the one, he’ll wait. Say ‘no’ or ‘not now’ if you’re not sure.” She joked that Luke deserves a spot in the local Guinness World Records book and added, “I’m truly thankful for his patience.”
