In June 2021, Jennifer Dowker, a boat captain and scuba diving instructor from Cheboygan, Michigan, was carrying out maintenance on her vessel when something unusual caught her eye. Resting on the riverbed of the Cheboygan River was a small green bottle. Intrigued, she retrieved it, never imagining it would contain a message written almost a century ago.

Inside was a note dated November 1926 that said: “Will the person who finds this bottle please return this paper to George Morrow, Cheboygan, Michigan, and let me know where it was discovered?”

Jennifer shared the discovery online, and the story quickly captured people’s attention.

Just days later, Michele Primeau came across the post and immediately recognized the handwriting as her father’s. She believed he had written it on his 18th birthday. When the two women finally spoke, Michele graciously chose to let Jennifer keep both the bottle and the note, saying it felt right to let the discovery continue inspiring others.
