In India, 70-year-old Jivunben Rabari astonished many when she gave birth to her first baby. Alongside her 75-year-old husband, Maldhari, she proudly introduced their long-awaited son.

The couple, who have been married for 45 years, live in a small village in Gujarat. After many failed attempts to conceive naturally, they turned to IVF — a procedure doctors initially doubted would succeed given Jivunben’s age.
Despite the skepticism, the treatment worked, and the couple welcomed their long-awaited baby boy. They have not revealed his name but spoke of their overwhelming joy at finally holding a child of their own.

Doctors involved in the case admitted it was “one of the rarest” they had ever witnessed. Normally, most women go through menopause between their 40s and 50s, making natural conception at 70 virtually impossible. Yet with medical support and a healthy uterus, pregnancy is technically possible, though extremely risky.

Specialists warn that older mothers face higher chances of complications, and their babies may also carry increased health risks. Still, India has seen other cases of women in their 60s and 70s giving birth through IVF, including a record in 2019 when a 74-year-old delivered twins.

This remarkable story has sparked debate around the world about science, age, and motherhood. What do you think about women in their 70s becoming mothers through IVF? Share your thoughts in the comments.
