“Julia Roberts calls herself a ‘strict mom’ — but her rules might surprise you” 😳📵 From phones to family dinners, the actress raised her kids in a way few in Hollywood dare. See the rare details in the article below 👇📸
Julia Roberts has opened up about the parenting style she and her husband, cinematographer Daniel Moder, have followed while raising their three children. The actress admitted they were considered “strict” by many, especially when it came to technology.
“I think they were definitely among the last in their age group to get phones and all that,” Roberts shared. “When they were younger, people thought of us as pretty strict parents. It’s not that we made laws, but there were rules, and they didn’t change. If you ask me for something and get an answer, then go to your dad for a different one — that doesn’t happen in our house. And it never will.”

Now 57, Roberts explained that their consistency gave her twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus, 20, and son Henry, 18, a sense of stability. “It helps them feel safe because they know there’s this unshakable world of love and security that exists without conditions,” she said.
Roberts and Moder welcomed Hazel and Phinnaeus in 2004, followed by Henry in 2007. From the beginning, the couple kept their children’s lives out of the spotlight, focusing on a private, grounded family life. “We try to protect them,” Roberts said years ago. “We just want to live our family life without interference.”

She has also spoken about setting boundaries around gadgets. In 2023, Roberts revealed that they encouraged their children to disconnect from technology. “Each kid had a charging station where they had to leave their phones when they came home. And definitely no phones at the dinner table.”
“At the end of the day, you actually have something to talk about at dinner, because you haven’t been calling each other a hundred times throughout the day,” Roberts concluded with a smile.
