Irina Shayk is once again testing limits — and she knows exactly what she’s doing.
The 40-year-old supermodel became the center of online debate after unveiling a provocative new visual project created with American photographer Steven Klein. Known for his dark, confrontational style, Klein has spent decades pushing fashion imagery into uncomfortable territory, and this collaboration followed that exact path.

For the shoot, Shayk embraced a concept designed to unsettle. In some images, she posed topless, owning the frame without apology. In others, she appeared on a motorcycle in a leather jacket with her underwear pulled down, staged against a bare wall — and even alongside a cow, an intentionally jarring detail. Additional shots showed her in a thong beside a black stallion, or wearing a leather corset with bare shoulders and a heart-shaped neckline that left little to the imagination. One stark all-black look was finished with minimal briefs and thigh-high boots.
The imagery didn’t stop there.

In later scenes, Shayk appeared braless in leather with her face fully covered by a mask. Another photo placed her in a bathtub filled to the edge with water, wearing dramatic makeup and vivid red lipstick — blending exposure with control.
When she shared the images, Shayk framed the project as intentional and character-driven rather than pure shock. She described the work as the result of late-night conversations with Klein, hinting at a fictional persona shaped by his visual world.

The response was immediate and polarized.
Some viewers accused the former partner of Bradley Cooper of cheap provocation, calling the shoot degrading and unnecessary. Others pushed back just as strongly, arguing that the project was a sharp commentary on how women’s bodies are consumed and judged. Supporters praised Shayk’s command of the camera, calling the work fearless and technically demanding.

This collaboration wasn’t a one-off. Only weeks earlier, Shayk had shared another revealing series shot by Klein, making it clear this partnership is deliberate and ongoing.
Love it or hate it, the reaction was never an accident. Irina Shayk knew exactly what she was stirring — and chose not to soften the impact.
