At the big cat reserve centre in Kent, a young jaguar kitten is mature enough for getting a name. This is a unique creature which is the rarest individual of the black jaguar. And if we consider that the whole species is considered vulnerable, this kitten is priceless!
When you are the best, but you still don’t understand it.

With mom Keira.

And this is a folder which they call Nero. You can immediately see whom the daughter is like.

Until the 70s, about 18,000 jaguars per year were exterminated in the world for the sake of their fur. Now this is over, but the population is still not recovering quickly. Both Keira and Nero were born in captivity, they formed a couple the previous year, and in the past, the reserve workers noticed that Keira’s belly began to round. No one intervened in the process, they just installed additional CCTV cameras in the enclosures. The cub was born in April, after only two weeks it opened its eyes and began to walk confidently – she is in excellent health condition!
She is called Baby still, but it’s time to give a permanent name.

Everyone has high hopes for the young kitty – it is destined to revive the genus of jaguars.
