For the first time ever, the world can see detailed images of the famous Titanic shipwreck, which sank nearly a century ago. Last year, a team of scientists went on an expedition to the wreck site in the North Atlantic and captured three-dimensional images of the ship.
Using a combination of sonar and photography, these high-resolution images have been produced. According to The Daily Mail, this is the first time such detailed images of an underwater object have been created. The images were shown in a Virginia court during hearings about the RMS company, which has exclusive rights to explore the Titanic.
So far, around six thousand artifacts have been recovered from the ocean floor, with their total value estimated at over a million pounds. However, the cost of the search operations is even higher. The Titanic wreck site, located 400 miles off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada, is extremely challenging to access due to strong underwater currents and frequent storms.
