On June 20, five-year-old Luna Fenner had a successful plastic surgery in another country. Known online as the “Batman mask girl” because of a large birthmark on her face, Luna had previously undergone surgeries to remove most of the mark, but some scars remained. Her mother faced many challenges to get a visa, but she finally managed to bring Luna for this crucial reconstructive surgery.
Before the procedure, Luna’s mother, Carol Fenner, shared a message on her blog: “Tomorrow is a big day—Luna’s first cosmetic surgery. We aim to fix her eyes, which still open while she sleeps, and improve her skin’s mobility. Luna is excited and ready for the operation. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.”
Carol concluded her post by asking for blessings for Dr. Olga, the surgeon, and expressing hope for a successful outcome. The surgery, lasting over five hours, was successful. Dr. Olga reported that they removed the remaining birthmark and scar tissue, fixed Luna’s eyelids, and performed additional eyelid surgery. She wished Luna a quick recovery and hoped her parents would be pleased with the results.
The following morning, Carol posted a video of Luna dancing with a bandage on her face, saying, “12 hours after the surgery, we’re back! Luna continues to amaze us. I’ll share more details later, but everything is okay for now.” Luna will stay at the clinic for three more days.
Luna had her first major surgery at six months old. Her family chose this treatment path because American doctors had advised a lengthy series of surgeries. The initial treatment, including various therapies and surgeries, cost around $200,000, which was less than the cost in the US.
