I was surprised to see that my mom never throws away egg cartons 😲 At first, I thought it was just clutter, but then I realized she actually turns them into something incredibly useful for the house! 😱🤯 I’m sharing what she does with them in the aricle ⬇️
My mom is a true homemaker and a master of creativity. She always finds ways to reuse things that others would throw away, turning them into practical and unique items for the home.
Recently, I noticed that she never discards empty egg cartons. It turns out they have many handy uses. One of her favorite ways to repurpose them is as planting trays.
Because of their shape, egg cartons are perfect for growing seedlings. They hold soil well, allow air to circulate, and help young plants take root properly.
She also uses them to create precise holes when planting radishes or other small crops. Pressing the tray into the soil leaves neat, evenly spaced indentations, making the planting process easier and more organized.
But she doesn’t stop there. Cardboard egg cartons can also be turned into a unique crafting material.
To do this, she tears the carton into small pieces, pours boiling water over them, and lets them simmer for about 30 minutes. Once cooled, she blends the mixture into a smooth paste using a mixer.
She then boils the mixture for another 15 minutes, squeezes out the excess liquid, and moves on to the next step.
In a separate container, she dilutes glue with water in a 2:1 ratio, adds a bit of putty, and combines it with the prepared cardboard mixture. After mixing everything thoroughly, she gets a fantastic crafting material.
From this, she creates a variety of home and garden decorations—figurines, picture frames, decorative panels, and even small pots for succulents.
Instead of treating egg cartons as trash, my mom finds creative ways to give them a second life, turning waste into something both useful and beautiful. All it takes is a little imagination and a desire to create.
