🏡 A single woman with a modest income managed to build a charming tiny home from scratch, and what she did next is even more surprising 😮😱 After all, she decided to sell it—but the reason why is truly unexpected 🤯 Her story is both inspiring and full of surprises—take a look in the article below! ⬇️
A lot can change in just one year.
Not long ago, Michelle Boyle was paying $1,300 a month to rent a small house in Sherwood, Oregon. Her rent was high, and her paycheck from working at a café was low, leaving her with no chance to save any money. Almost everything she earned went toward rent and groceries.
Finding a cheaper place to live was almost impossible, and ending up on the street with her kids wasn’t an option.
But after some time, when her kids moved out, Michelle decided to change her life.
With the little money she had managed to save, she built a tiny house of her own. Not only did this cut her monthly expenses almost entirely, but it also allowed Michelle to start saving for her future retirement.
How did Michelle manage to do this?
She began by exploring small homeowner websites, where people shared their experiences building tiny houses to save money and gain financial stability.
Michelle managed to build her own house for a relatively small amount of money and moved in, leaving her larger and more expensive rental behind.
She used to pay $1,300 a month to rent a three-bedroom house. Now, she lives in her tiny house, which is only 18.5 square meters. For the small plot of land where her house stands, Michelle pays just $65 a month. This amount even includes electricity, water, and WiFi!
“Building something with your own hands is a very rewarding experience,” Michelle told Oregon Live. “I didn’t just build my house—I designed it.”
Take a peek inside her tiny home, and you’ll definitely be impressed!
Our tour of the house starts in the small but charming kitchen, where Michelle spends a lot of her time.
All the appliances are from the 1940s and early 1950s. Michelle says it took her two years to find and restore these pieces for her collection.
The house even has enough space for a small staircase that leads up to the attic. That’s where Michelle likes to read books or just relax.
It’s not a bad idea at all!
This cozy spot looks perfect for a nap or enjoying a good book.
There’s another staircase in the living room that leads to the bedroom.
Michelle managed to fit a lot of furniture in the space, making it feel homely and inviting.
It seems like a wonderful place to wake up in the morning.
And what about her living room? Michelle decorated it beautifully for Christmas, making the whole house feel warm and festive.
It’s hard to believe the house is only 18.5 square meters—it feels so much bigger!
The bathroom is also nicely decorated for Christmas. It has water, a shower, and a toilet, making it fully functional.
Michelle even managed to squeeze in a small closet for her clothes. Quite impressive!
In winter, the house looks even more charming—what a lovely place to live!
Michelle did an amazing job—her home is truly unique and beautiful.
But she didn’t stop there. After finishing her dream home, Michelle continued to research and build more tiny houses. Her plan is to rent them out as a source of income in the future.
Would you or someone you know like to live in one of Michelle’s tiny houses?
