Potato tongues are a dish that many people find even tastier than regular fried potatoes. Plus, they are a healthier alternative to chips, which makes them especially popular with kids.
I really enjoy making this simple appetizer to please my whole family. The best part is that I don’t have to worry about them eating anything unhealthy.
Here’s what you need for this recipe:
4 large potatoes
Salt and pepper
You can use dried dill and garlic, but I prefer a ready-made potato seasoning mix.
Here’s how to make them:
Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin slices. Rinse them thoroughly under water and gently dry with paper towels.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and sprinkle it with sea salt (regular salt works too). Arrange the potato slices in a single layer on the sheet, then sprinkle with your seasoning (add extra salt if your mix doesn’t contain any).
Put the potatoes in a preheated oven at 200°C and bake for about 15 minutes. Then, flip each slice with a fork and continue baking for another 10 minutes.
I love serving these potato tongues with different sauces, such as homemade mayonnaise or a sour cream dip. For a bit of extra flavor, you can add some grated pickled or fresh cucumber to the sauce.
If you like a bit of spice, try mixing mayonnaise with mustard to taste—spicy, sweet, American, or French. This kind of spicy sauce goes perfectly with potato tongues and also pairs well with meat snacks that you can serve alongside.
Feel free to experiment and enjoy cooking!
