🌪️ The reporter could barely stand… but a guy did a cartwheel right behind him?! Viewers were stunned when a serious Hurricane Ida report turned into viral comedy — all thanks to two chill pedestrians and one bold backflipper casually passing through the “danger zone.” Was it staged or just bad optics? The clip is already blowing up online — full video in the article 👇
We came across a funny video where a reporter from The Weather Channel was seriously doing his job, reporting on bad weather in Louisiana. But what happened in the background made the situation look less dangerous and more like a comedy moment.
Jim Cantorre, a meteorologist on TV, was covering Hurricane Ida. He tried to show just how powerful the storm was. He could barely stay standing—he took a wide stance and leaned forward to avoid being knocked over by the strong wind. Jim had his hands up and wore a visor to protect his face from the gusts.
Viewers might have believed how serious things were—until they noticed what was happening behind him. Two men were calmly walking past in the background, as if the wind wasn’t a problem at all. Then in another part of the clip, someone standing behind Jim suddenly did a cartwheel and continued walking, totally unbothered.

And that person wasn’t swept away by the wind either. It almost looked like the man was showing that maybe the reporter was exaggerating just a little when trying to show how strong the storm was.
The person doing the cartwheel was probably very athletic and maybe stronger than Jim. But still, the storm was no joke—Hurricane Ida was rated as a Category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, which only goes up to 5. The hurricane left around 700 people without electricity for a full day along the U.S. coast.
The video quickly went viral online and got a lot of attention. Many people found it funny. But The Weather Channel stood by their reporter. They explained that Jim had been standing on wet, slippery grass, which made it hard to keep his balance. Meanwhile, the other people seen walking and flipping were on solid pavement, which is why they looked fine as they passed through the same area.
