A young groom grabbed attention online after showing up to his wedding dressed in jeans and a T-shirt.
In a TikTok video, 16-year-old Violet Price captured the moment her best friend, Catherine Nicholson, got married—while the groom kept things surprisingly casual.
The video has been watched more than 1.5 million times, and many people aren’t too happy with the groom’s outfit. As reported by YorkshireLive, he wore a black Palm Angels T-shirt, gray washed jeans, and a pair of sneakers to the ceremony.
Catherine, the bride, chose a more traditional look. She wore a white mermaid-style wedding dress with lace detailing, a long train, and a cinched waist.
It opens with Violet and a friend laughing on a carnival ride, then flashes to a clip of her saying, “Just a few months back, my best friend was dead set on staying single.” You can hear the girls in the background laughing, teasing, “No love for me this summer, I’m just doing my thing.” Fast forward two months, and suddenly—there’s Catherine, all dressed up for her wedding.
People quickly shared their thoughts in the comments. One person wrote, “Did he not know he was getting married?” Someone else joked, “Wedding at 5. Wetherspoons with the lads at 6.” Another said, “I would’ve turned around the moment I saw him,” while complimenting Catherine on how stunning she looked.
Not everyone was impressed. One person remarked, “Bet that’s the same energy he’ll bring to the actual marriage.” Another chimed in, “You spend hours looking amazing, and that’s how your fiancé decides to show up?”
But Violet defended her best friend and wouldn’t let the critics win. She responded, “For God’s sake, stop. She’s married and very happy.” She added that her friend didn’t care about how her husband dressed—what mattered most was that they were in love and got married.
Despite the backlash, Violet continued to stand up for her best friend and her husband.
What do you think about the groom’s wedding outfit? Would you be okay with this look at your own wedding?
