Even though we use computers every day, most people still don’t know all the shortcuts that could make their lives much easier. Here are some simple combinations you might not have heard of that can help you save time and be more productive.

Why not give them a try? You might really like them!

Want to insert today’s date while working in a document? Just press Shift + Alt + D. This will add the current day, month, and year.

If you also want to add the current time, use Shift + Alt + T.

Working in Word and accidentally turned on CAPS LOCK? No need to delete and retype the text. Press Shift + F3 to change the letters back to normal.

To move the cursor faster instead of one letter at a time, hold Ctrl and use the arrow keys to jump between words.

Need to select specific parts of text? Hold Ctrl and click with the mouse to highlight the exact part you want without dragging slowly across the screen.

Did you know Word has an extended clipboard? You can see everything you’ve copied before. This is helpful if you’re working with a lot of copy-paste actions.

To protect your file with a password, go to File → Info → Protect Document, then choose to Encrypt with Password. Just don’t forget the password—you won’t be able to open the file without it!

You don’t have to open Word through the Start Menu every time. Press Windows + R, type Word, and hit Enter. If you use it often, it will start faster next time.
