A bizarre in-flight optical illusion described as “creepy” has disturbed viewers online, with many comparing the sight to the alien from the movie E.T.
The viral photo, shared by a passenger mid-flight, shows what at first glance looks like a man with a mustache, wearing a black hat — and staring with one enormous eye.
“It’s an alien sitting there,” one user joked. Another added, “I’d be jumping out of the plane.”
The original poster captioned the photo: “I almost landed this plane myself.”
But sharp-eyed viewers quickly pointed out the reality behind the strange illusion. The so-called “giant eye” wasn’t extraterrestrial at all, but simply a pair of headphones resting against the passenger’s head, with the cap turned backward.
“That’s just a guy with his hat flipped and the black thing that looks like an eyeball is actually a headphone,” clarified one user.
