Brooke Shields, 61, Recreates Her ‘Blue Lagoon’ Magic — And That Waterfall Moment Has Everyone Looking

More than four decades after “The Blue Lagoon” made Brooke Shields a worldwide star, the actress has delivered a vacation moment that instantly brings back memories of her most iconic film. At 61, Shields headed to Croatia and showed that her adventurous side hasn’t disappeared with age.

The actress shared a collection of snapshots filled with crystal-clear water, boat rides and spectacular scenery. One of the standout moments showed Shields beside a waterfall in a black one-piece swimsuit, with wet hair and statement jewelry. Other images captured her soaking up the sun aboard a boat and swimming during the getaway.

But Shields didn’t simply pose for beautiful vacation pictures. She also took the plunge and jumped into the water, adding a little adrenaline to the trip. She described Croatia as one of the highlights of her summer, and comedian Chelsea Handler joined her for part of the adventure.

Away from the water, the friends also wandered through picturesque Croatian streets. Yet it was Shields surrounded by water and lush scenery that created an unmistakable flashback to “The Blue Lagoon,” the 1980 movie in which she played Emmeline opposite Christopher Atkins.

The famous film followed its young characters on a deserted tropical island and became remembered for its striking ocean and wilderness scenes. Croatia may be far removed from a remote South Pacific paradise, but Shields’ latest photos created an amusing real-life echo of the movie that helped define her early career.

Fans responded enthusiastically to the vacation album, praising both the scenery and Shields herself. More than 40 years after those famous movie images, the actress is still embracing the water, adventure and a little bit of daring — only this time, there’s no script involved.
