Cillian Murphy’s 19-year-old son Aran has suddenly become an internet sensation — and people can’t stop talking about the almost uncanny resemblance between father and son. A video of the young actor quickly went viral after his first solo red-carpet appearance in London.
Aran stepped in front of photographers while promoting the new HBO comedy series “Youth,” in which he has landed one of the leading roles. But once footage of his interviews began circulating online, the conversation quickly shifted from his new project to his famous father.
Viewers immediately noticed Cillian’s recognizable features in the teenager, particularly the striking cheekbones. Yet according to fans, the resemblance goes far beyond appearance. Aran’s facial expressions, gestures, voice, intonation and even the way he casually keeps his hands in his pockets while answering questions reminded viewers of his dad.
Clips of the appearance reportedly attracted more than four million views, prompting jokes that no introduction was necessary because everyone could immediately identify his father. Others described Aran as a literal “copy-paste” of Cillian and joked that they had never figured out someone’s parentage so quickly.
But Aran isn’t relying solely on a famous surname. His acting career is already gathering momentum: alongside “Youth,” he is involved in HBO legal drama “War” with Sienna Miller and is preparing for his feature-film debut in Taika Waititi’s sci-fi project “Klara and the Sun,” alongside Jenna Ortega.
Like his famously private father, Aran also stays away from public social-media accounts. He is the younger of Cillian’s two sons with his wife, Yvonne McGuinness; their older son, Malachy, is 20.
Cillian, now 50, first met Yvonne in 1996 at a concert by his rock band. They married in 2004 — and two decades later, their youngest son is stepping into the spotlight himself, with the internet insisting that those Murphy genes couldn’t possibly be more obvious.
