John Travolta has once again shown that his late wife, Kelly Preston, remains close to his heart. The 72-year-old Hollywood star marked what would have been her 64th birthday on October 13 with a touching Instagram tribute featuring their grown-up daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, 26.
Instead of sharing an old photograph of Kelly, the actor posted a video celebrating Ella’s recent runway debut for Miu Miu at Paris Fashion Week. The footage showed the young beauty preparing backstage, walking in the Spring/Summer 2027 show and posing near the Eiffel Tower, accompanied by Audrey Hepburn’s version of Moon River.
But it was Travolta’s heartbreaking message that made the tribute especially moving. “Look at your little girl now, Kelly! Happy birthday, you should be so proud,” he wrote. Ella responded with three white hearts and shared her own birthday tribute to her mother, writing: “Happy birthday, Mom. I love you.”
Although it was Ella’s first Paris Fashion Week runway appearance, she had previously attended shows by Prada, Max Mara and Tod’s. She is also pursuing acting and recently appeared in Propeller: A One-Way Night Coach, her father’s directorial debut.
Kelly died on July 12, 2020, aged 57, after a two-year battle with breast cancer. She had been married to John since 1991, and they welcomed three children: Jett, Ella and Benjamin. The family had already endured tragedy in 2009 when Jett died at just 16 following a seizure.

Ella has honored her mother through music, dedicating her song Little Bird to Kelly. She explained on Today that the track was a personal message she wanted to share with her. John also dedicated Propeller: A One-Way Night Coach to both Kelly and Jett.
Despite these devastating losses, Travolta continues to cherish his family. He once reflected that life had tested him severely, but he always tried to find something positive even in the darkest circumstances. His latest tribute shows how proudly he watches his daughter grow while keeping her mother’s memory alive.
