Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise exchanged vows in 1990. The two quickly became one of the most admired couples in Hollywood. But their happiness only lasted until 2001. The turning point in their relationship came during the filming of “Eyes Wide Shut.”

Nicole Kidman shares her emotional journey and battle with depression in the aftermath of her divorce from Tom Cruise.

In previous interviews, Nicole mentioned that “the news of the divorce came as a complete shock.”

Soon after, she started working on the movie The Hours, where she portrayed the writer Virginia Woolf.

When the biographical drama premiered, Nicole won the Golden Globe for Best Actress. But despite the success, this film was an emotional challenge for her. She recently decided to speak about it.

“At that time, I didn’t realize how much I was putting myself at risk. Now, looking back, it feels like I was just putting rocks in my pocket and walking into a river,” the actress shared in an interview with BBC Radio 4.

“I wasn’t in the best place emotionally back then. Virginia’s character truly resonated with me, making me feel vulnerable. That’s why I was able to connect with the role so deeply. The film’s director understood the fragile state I was in and treated me with great care,” the actress confessed.
