We had an old bathtub at home that had been there for years. When we started renovating, we decided it was time to clear out all the old junk. We were ready to throw the tub away, but at the very last moment, we stopped and thought—could we turn it into something useful?
Instead of dragging it to the dump, we came up with the idea to give the bathtub a second life. We decided to make it into a unique piece of furniture for the house.
At first, it sounded a bit strange, but the more we thought about it, the more we liked the idea. After talking it over, we finally settled on making a sofa out of the bathtub. It was an unusual idea, but we were excited to see what would come out of it.
The first step was to cut the bathtub in half. We carefully worked through the process, making sure to smooth and sand all the sharp edges so no one would get hurt using it later.
Once that was done, we moved on to painting. We chose black paint for the outside and bright red for the inside. To tie the look together, we also painted the legs of the tub red.
After the paint dried, we added a soft mattress and a few cushions. The result surprised us—it turned out to be a stylish and comfortable sofa, perfect for our country house.
Now we place it in the yard, and it’s the best spot to sit and enjoy the fresh air. When it rains, we simply take the cushions and mattress inside to keep them dry.
This old bathtub, which we were ready to throw away, has now become a favorite part of our yard and something we are proud to show off.
This little project proved to us that even the things that seem like useless junk can turn into something great if you get creative and are willing to try.
