Outerwear doesn’t need to be washed as often as everyday clothes. Besides, Certain fabrics don’t stand up well to regular washing. But there’s no need to worry. Today, I will tell you about simple and effective methods for cleaning a jacket without a full wash. The result can turn out even better than professional dry cleaning.
1- Testing:
Before trying any cleaning product, check it on a small, tucked-away section of the jacket. This is important to make sure the fabric won’t be damaged. Avoid scrubbing with hard brushes, as this can ruin the material.
2- Removing stains:
Apply the cleaning solution to a cotton pad or a soft cloth and carefully treat the spots where there’s dirt. After that, gently wipe down the area using a cloth dampened with water or microfiber cloth soaked in clean water to get rid of any remaining product.
3- Popular home remedy:
Mix one teaspoon of ammonia with 100 ml of water, then add one tablespoon of dishwashing gel. Begin by steaming the dirty area, and afterward, use a sponge to gently apply the solution to the stain, wiping it clean.
4- Laundry soap:
Rub the dirty parts of the jacket with soap and leave it for 40 to 50 minutes. After that, remove the soap by gently wiping down the area using a cloth dampened with water or wet wipes.
5- Stain remover:
Apply the stain remover directly to the stained area following the instructions on the packaging. Once it has done its job, rinse the spot with clean water.
6- Hydrogen peroxide (be careful—it doesn’t suit all fabrics):
Combine three tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide with a cup of warm water. Then, apply this solution to the stains and gently scrub them with an old toothbrush. Afterward, moisten the area with lemon juice and let it sit for approximately 30 minutes. Once finished, wipe away the residue with wet wipes.
Remember:
1. Before you start cleaning your jacket, be sure to check its care label for any specific instructions.
2. Test every cleaning product on a small hidden part of the jacket.
3. Don’t scrub too hard, as this may damage the fabric.
Using these simple methods, you can easily freshen up your jacket and remove stains without putting it in the washing machine.
