It Looks Like a Modest One-Bedroom — Until You See the Balcony That Steals the Show

Looks like a simple one-bedroom in Stockholm — until you see the balcony. Seventeen square meters of plants, candles, and an incredible view. The vintage charm is lovely, but the real gem is outside. Check the article below for detailed photos 👇

We’ve seen many small apartments, but this one in Stockholm really stands out.

Its biggest feature is the large balcony, which becomes an extra living space in the summer. There’s a sofa, a dining table, and even room to stretch or exercise.

The apartment belongs to a woman in her 40s who lives alone. She works for a small company and doesn’t chase after luxury. The place was last renovated in 2015 — just a light update with new wallpaper, new kitchen countertops, and some fresh furniture for the balcony.

The apartment is on the top floor of a building that was built in 1938.

Even though the owner clearly has good taste (the expensive William Morris wallpaper is a clue), the apartment still has some lovely old-fashioned features: an old-style doorbell, vintage doors, and a kitchen unit from the 1940s.

The overall feel of the apartment is very clean and simple — a great example of Swedish minimalism. As for the layout: there used to be a wall between the kitchen and the main room, but it was removed by the previous owners to create a more open space.

Just look at the floor plan — the balcony is huge! We’ll show you the photos of it at the end of the article. In the main room, you’ll find a working fireplace (though it’s rarely used), a bed, and a stylish vintage sofa.

The kitchen is very small, with just a fridge, a sink, and a few cupboards. But it has charm — the William Morris wallpaper, art prints, and retro furniture make the space feel warm and personal.

The bathroom is very basic — simple and functional.

And now we come to the most impressive part of the apartment: the 17-square-meter balcony terrace. The neighbors aren’t as lucky — they only have small standard balconies.

On this terrace, there’s a cozy garden sofa, lots of green plants, flower vases, candles, and lanterns.

Plus, the view from the balcony is stunning — you can see across the whole neighborhood.

What do you think of this little apartment? Would you keep the vintage charm and retro style, or would you change it to something more modern?
