On the island of Södermalm in Stockholm, there’s an old stone building that has caught the interest of both locals and tourists. It’s not often that people get a chance to look inside such historic homes, so they usually remain a mystery. But this time, we’re in luck — one of the apartments inside went up for sale, and now we can take a peek through the listing photos.
The apartment takes up an entire floor of what appears to be a narrow, old house. It’s around 100 square meters in size and has been around since the 1640s. Over the centuries, it’s seen a lot — including the big Stockholm fire in 1759 and a major renovation in 1907.
Inside, the apartment is decorated in a classic Scandinavian style. The design is simple and cozy, with natural materials and soft, neutral colors throughout.
The hallway is open and uncluttered, with only a few cabinets for coats and shoes. From there, you can reach the living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, and a bathroom.
The living room feels warm and inviting. There’s a big sofa, comfy chairs, and a television. Lots of light fills the space, making it feel even more welcoming.
We did have one small question — the chandelier in the living room is a bit unusual.
In the kitchen, things are laid out in a very practical way. There’s a full set of appliances for cooking and a large dining table that seats eight.
We definitely prefer the chandelier in the kitchen. It’s a nice fit!
The two bedrooms are also done in a clean Scandinavian style. They feel calm and peaceful — perfect for resting.
The bathroom matches the look of the rest of the apartment. It’s simple, clean, and designed with comfort in mind.
This home is a great example of how an old building can be preserved and still feel fresh and livable. It blends history with modern comfort in the best way.
