A few years ago, a young girl named Naryana captured the attention of the internet with her almost otherworldly beauty. Known as the “porcelain girl,” she first became famous in 2017 after being photographed by Yakut photographer Vadim Rufov.
Vadim spotted Naryana in photos online and was struck by how different she looked. Curious and inspired, he reached out to her mother and offered to do a photo shoot. The family agreed — and that decision changed everything.

When the photos appeared on social media, they went viral almost immediately. People were amazed by Naryana’s appearance, which was strikingly different from those around her. While most people in Yakutia have dark hair and darker skin, Naryana had snow-white hair, very fair skin, and light eyes that seemed to change color depending on the light.
Her look was so unique that even international media picked up the story. Daily Mail, a British outlet, wrote about the girl from Yakutia. What many didn’t know at the time is that Naryana was born with albinism — a condition where the body doesn’t produce melanin, the pigment that gives color to skin, eyes, and hair. Her parents were careful to protect her from too much sun, and she wore sunglasses outside to shield her sensitive eyes.

Though she looked different, Naryana was always a regular kid at heart. She had plenty of friends, loved to draw and dance, and had a big collection of toy ponies.
