When Halima Cissé first learned she was pregnant, she never imagined the incredible journey ahead. At the beginning, doctors thought she might be carrying triplets — maybe even quintuplets.
But nothing could have prepared anyone for what came next: Halima gave birth to nine babies — five girls and four boys — all in one go.
The babies arrived early, at just 30 weeks, each weighing between 500 grams and one kilogram. They were so tiny, they could rest in the palm of a hand.
Right after birth, all nine were rushed into intensive care. Around-the-clock, dedicated teams of doctors and nurses fed them every two hours, checked their vitals every three, and went through six liters of formula and nearly 100 diapers each day.
For months, the newborns stayed in incubators, slowly getting stronger. No one could guarantee they would all survive. But, beating every expectation, each of them pulled through.
Fast forward four years — and those fragile newborns are now joyful, healthy, and bursting with energy.
