The human body is naturally covered in fine hair — some areas more noticeably than others. This layer of hair helps protect us from microbes and harmful elements in the environment. Still, most women, and even some men, turn to cosmetologists to remove unwanted body hair in pursuit of smoother skin.
But what happens when no amount of hair removal treatments make a difference? That’s the reality for Yu Zhenhan, a man from China whose unique condition has earned him a spot in the Guinness World Records.
From the age of two, Yu began developing an unusually thick layer of body hair. By the time he turned three, 96% of his body was covered. Despite this, he attended a regular school and made plenty of friends along the way.
His classmates gave him the nickname “King Kong,” but Yu didn’t mind — in fact, he enjoyed the attention. Still, he made several attempts to remove the excess hair, trying various methods, but nothing provided lasting results.
Eventually, Yu decided to stop fighting it and accept himself as he was. After finishing school, he tried online dating, hoping to find love. While his first attempts didn’t go well, his true match had actually been close all along — a sweet classmate he had been friends with in school. Years later, they reconnected and got married.
Today, Yu is focused on his music career and is proudly living life on his own terms.
