An extraordinary event took place in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. On the outskirts of a small settlement, a newborn baby girl was abandoned, left unclothed with her umbilical cord still attached.
The infant’s life was spared thanks to an unlikely savior — a stray dog. Throughout the cold December night, the animal sheltered the baby alongside its own puppies, keeping her warm until morning.
By chance, passersby discovered the little girl the next day and immediately alerted authorities. “Most likely, the warmth of the dog and her pups saved her life. It gets very cold here at night, and the baby was incredibly lucky,” one witness explained.
The child was taken to a hospital, where doctors confirmed her condition as stable. She has since been given the name Akanksha.
Police are now searching for the parents who abandoned the newborn.
