“An old sewing machine turned into this — and nobody saw it coming” 😳🍷 What once gathered dust is now the centerpiece of a dining room… see the stunning transformation in the article below 👇📸
Do you have an old sewing machine hidden away? Instead of letting it sit unused, why not turn it into something stylish and practical — like a bar cart?
That’s what I did with my mom’s vintage sewing machine. After she passed, the piece sat in my garage for years until I finally decided to give it new life. Now it proudly stands in my dining room as a functional reminder of her.
How I Did It

Step One: I removed all the internal parts, leaving only the wooden shell.

Step Two: To hold drinks, I fitted a galvanized tub into the top. I traced, cut, and sanded an opening until the tub fit snugly.

Step Three: For stability, I added a painted wood shelf with L-shaped brackets. I also spray-painted the hardware for a fresh look.
Step Four: Final touches included a hook, bottle opener, new drawer pull, and a coat of Fusion Mineral Paint in Soapstone. I even added a stemware rack for glasses.

The best part? The original Montgomery Ward brass plate now shines front and center, honoring its history.
The Result

What was once tucked away is now a beautiful, functional bar cart that I use and love. More than furniture, it’s a memory preserved and reimagined.
Supplies Used: Vintage sewing machine, galvanized tub, scrap wood, drawer pull, paint, hook, bottle opener, filler, spray paint.
