For the first time, Hailey Bieber is speaking openly about the health scare that nearly changed everything.
The 29-year-old model revealed that in March 2022 she suffered a transient ischemic attack — often referred to as a mini-stroke — a condition that can signal a far more dangerous, life-threatening stroke.
What followed was even more shocking.

Doctors discovered she had a congenital heart defect known as a patent foramen ovale, a hole in the heart that required urgent surgical closure. The procedure was performed the same day, and incredibly, she was discharged shortly after.
“I had a very serious health issue. I had a mini-stroke. Then I found out I had a congenital heart defect and I had to have surgery. It sounds crazy, but they cut me open and I was out of the hospital the same day,” she shared.
The experience reshaped her outlook entirely.

Hailey admitted that although she had always cared about wellness, the ordeal forced her to listen to her body more closely and become even more vigilant about regular testing and medical checkups. She now monitors her health carefully and has grown more attentive — and admittedly more anxious — about any changes.
Around the same time, her husband, Justin Bieber, was facing his own health crisis. The singer was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused partial facial paralysis and hearing issues. He canceled tour dates to focus on recovery. By 2024, his facial mobility had largely returned.

In the same podcast appearance, Hailey also made rare comments about their 18-month-old son, Jack Blues, born in August 2024. The couple has kept him largely out of the spotlight.
“He talks about basketball constantly,” she said with a smile. “I woke him up this morning and he opened his eyes and said, ‘Basketball.’ It’s crazy. He’s so funny.”

Despite everything they’ve faced, Hailey says she wants to expand their family. “I definitely want another child, but we’re not rushing,” she added.
Behind the polished red carpets and flawless campaigns, the reality was far more fragile. And now, she’s finally telling the story in her own words.
