“People Looked at the Kids First — Not the Anniversary”: Kate and William’s Family Photo Shifts the Focus

It was supposed to be about a milestone, but the reaction went in a different direction almost immediately.

Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales marked their 15th wedding anniversary on April 29 by sharing a new family photo, presenting a relaxed moment with their children.

In the picture, the couple sits on the grass in light summer outfits, joined by their three children — 12-year-old Prince George, 10-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 8-year-old Prince Louis — along with their pets.

The caption stayed simple: “Celebrating 15 years of marriage,” keeping the message clear and understated.

But once the photo started spreading, the attention quickly moved away from the couple and landed on the children.

People pointed out how much they’ve grown and how different they look now compared to earlier photos, with many saying the whole dynamic of the family feels changed.

Their story as a couple is already well known — married in 2011 at Westminster Abbey in front of more than 1,900 guests, later welcoming George in 2013, Charlotte in 2015, and Louis in 2018.

The past year added a more serious layer, after the Princess of Wales revealed in 2024 that she had been diagnosed with a serious illness, later completing treatment and returning to public duties.

Now, this anniversary photo was meant to highlight 15 years together, but for many, it ended up highlighting something else entirely.
