The restaurant floated above the city.
Glass walls.
Soft light.
No noise louder than a whisper.
A place where nothing unexpected ever happened.
Until him.
The boy walked in like he didn’t see the rules.
Didn’t feel the stares.
Didn’t slow down.
Dirty shirt.
Thin arms.
Eyes too steady.
He crossed the entire room.
Straight to the table.
The man in the wheelchair noticed him late.
“…Excuse me?” he said.
The boy stopped.
Close enough now.
“Sir.”
That word didn’t fit his voice.
Too calm.
Too certain.
“…What is it?” the man asked.
The boy looked at him.
Really looked.
Then said:
“I know why you can’t walk.”
The table went still.
Someone nearby laughed quietly.
The man smiled.
Amused.
“You do?”
The boy nodded.
No hesitation.
“Your leg didn’t stop working.”
That changed it.
The smile cracked.
Just a little.
“…What are you talking about?” he asked.
The boy stepped closer.
Lowered his voice.
“Your body remembers.”
The man’s hand tightened on the table.
“That’s enough,” he said.
But it wasn’t firm anymore.
The boy didn’t move.
Didn’t step back.
“Every night,” he said quietly,
“you move it when no one sees.”
The man’s breath stopped.
The room didn’t hear it.
But something shifted.
“How do you know that?” he whispered.
The boy leaned in.
Close enough that no one else could hear.
And said something.
One sentence.
Soft.
Precise.
Personal.
The man froze.
Not confused.
Not angry.
Frozen.
Like something inside him had just been exposed.
“…Who told you that?” he asked.
The boy stepped back.
Eyes still locked on him.
“My mother.”
Silence.
Heavy.
The man’s face changed.
Slowly.
Like pieces falling into place he didn’t want.
“…That’s not possible,” he said.
The boy didn’t argue.
Just looked at him.
Then added:
“She said you’d recognize it.”
The man’s fingers started shaking.
Around the glass.
“Recognize what?” he asked.
The boy hesitated.
Then leaned forward again.
And whispered—
something even quieter than before.
And this time—
the man didn’t just freeze.
He looked afraid.
What did the boy say? And how could he know something no one else did? Stay tuned for Part 3.
