A Duck Meets Her Owner from Work Like a Dog

Chantelle Grant and her husband live in a private house in Minnesota (USA). There are a lot of wild ducks in their neighborhood. There are spread so much so that if people forget to close the back door, they very soon found representatives of the feathered fraternity in their house. Chantelle is very fond of these birds, and has already become an unofficial rescuer of ducks in her area. This is because of the fact that as soon as any trouble happens to one of them the woman immediately rushes for help. Ducks are constantly getting stuck somewhere and Chantelle helps them to get out and then drives around in search of a flock and releases the rescued bird into the wild.

Once, near the house of the Grants a bird even laid a few eggs. The mother conscientiously incubated them and the chicks began to hatch in due time. Chantelle was anxiously waiting for the new neighbors. But one day she returned home and couldn’t see either the duck or her children in the same place. It seemed that they disappeared! There is only one egg left in the nest. Probably, someone scared the mother and she decided to protect her offspring and escaped from that place.

The woman traveled all over the area in search of a family, but she couldn’t find any. Meanwhile, a small chick hatched from the egg.

Chantelle called several wildlife centers. But I received the same answer from every centre: since the duck is an invasive bird species, she will have to be euthanized. That’s just unbelievable!

Mrs. Grant couldn’t allow such an end for the duckling and they decided to raise him on their own together with her husband. The unusual pet received the nickname Petty. Now it is already a big duck. She has her own bedroom with a sign on the door: “Watch out, there is a guard duck!” The bird is allowed to move around the house, both on its legs and on its wings. She loves to swim and cuddle with her owners.

There are also two macaw parrots who live in the house and they hate each other but they adore Petty. Sometimes Chantelle even takes Petty to work with her and all the colleagues work and enjoy the presence of the cutie with great pleasure.

If the cutie doesn’t have the opportunity to go with the duck then she stays at home and patiently waits for her beloved owner.

Petty shows with her behavior how much she waited for her owner and how she missed them when they return home. She intensively flaps her tail, nods, snaps her beak and hoots.
