A new Orleans-based artist and photographer Lee Daygard has a variety of projects which focuses on horses. And the most recent one is the “Near and Far” which focuses on horses. And as you understand horses should be present in theses photographs and they are really there but it will be very difficult to find them at first glance. The fact is that Lee uses the backs of horses as a landscape because they are so close to the lens that they can easily be mistaken for something else. Here’s how the artist explains her concept:
“The horizon is a place of opportunity and a a haunted destination. Starting from the third millennium BC horses carry us there throughout the history of mankind. The horses’ backs in these photographs are the epitome of the horizon; it carries its rider further than he could get alone.” – mentions the artist.
