A caring citizen found two kittens on the first day of July. The mother cat abandoned them and the kids urgently needed care.
“We always strongly recommend not to rush to touch the newborn kittens but it was obvious in this situation that our intervention was necessary,” says the animal rights activist Patricia who is from Las Vegas.
Both pussies were very small one one of them was even half the size of the other. “Alexander was an ordinary little underweight cub but his brother Liam was a premature baby of forty grams who wasn’t fully developed.”
Patricia urgently placed them in an incubator because they couldn’t regulate the temperature of their bodies independently and began to feed and caress the babies 24/7 according to the schedule.
Alexander who is a bigger kitten hugged his brother all the time and didn’t leave him alone.
Despite their best efforts Liam passed away at the age of eight days. His brother and guardians were by his side until the last minutes of his life.
“We will always remember Liam’s strength even though he lived so little. He knew that he was loved and had a huge impact on many people.”
Alexander continued to make progress every day as if in memory of his brother. Patricia gave him many soft toys so that he wouldn’t feel lonely.
Being regularly well fed, surrounded by lots of affection and care, the cutie opened his eyes.
“He put on the right weight and started to turn into a healthy, plump boy,” tells Patricia.
When Patricia came with the bottle Alexander was waiting patiently in the incubator staring intently as Mom was preparing the food. When he was fully recovered he gladly allowed himself to be petted and wrapped in a towel.
“He had a really deep connection with me because I knew him from birth. I love it when he looks at me as at his mother. My heart melts from his cute behavior. ” tells Patricia.
“The fluffy and happy little creature opens his mouth wide and shows off his meow when it’s time to eat,” adds Patricia.
Very soon the cutie will leave his incubator and move to a spacious playpen.
“Raising these vulnerable children can be heartbreaking at times but there are also lots of moments of happiness,” says Patricia.
“There will be a lot of love and happy endings – that’s what keeps me going. And Alexander is a real proof of that.”
