Rooting roses might seem hard at first, but there are some simple secrets that make this task easy and successful. One of the best methods is using just a plastic bottle and sand.
Here is exactly how it’s done:
1. Preparing the cuttings
First, cut pieces from a rose about 20 cm in length. Remove extra leaves, keeping only 2 or 3 at the top.
With a sharp knife, slice each cutting diagonally on both sides at the bottom, making a pointed end. This will encourage roots to form.
2. Preparing a plastic bottle
Take a plastic bottle and make holes at the bottom so water can drain out. You can easily do this using a heated nail, screwdriver, or other sharp tool.
3. Planting in the sand
Fill the plastic bottle with regular sand. Insert the rose cuttings carefully through the neck of the bottle, making sure they sit firmly in the sand. A 5-liter bottle can usually fit around 4 cuttings.
