My grandmother used to grow roses with onions and that sounds bizarre, but it really works! 🌹🧅 This simple trick can turn a single bud into a blooming bush without breaking the bank 🌱💖 Want to know how? Find out in the article! ⬇️💬
If you’ve always dreamed of growing a beautiful rose bush but weren’t sure how to start, don’t worry! There’s a simple way to grow a stunning rose from just a single unopened bud. You’ll only need a bit of patience, a few basic items, and some free time.
Here’s what you’ll need:
An unopened rosebud
A red onion
A clean knife or pruning shears
A container with drainage holes
Loose potting soil
Water
A plastic bottle
Instructions:
1. Prepare the rosebud:
Use a clean knife or pruning shears to carefully cut off an unopened rosebud with a short stem.
2. Prepare the onion:
Peel the red onion and poke a few holes in it with something sharp. This helps the onion release its juices, which are full of nutrients that help plants grow.
3. Combine the bud and onion:
Trim the rose stem a bit and insert it into one of the holes in the onion.
4. Plant the rose:
Take a container with drainage holes and fill it with loose potting soil. Lightly moisten the soil. Then place the onion with the rosebud into the container, burying it about 2-3 cm deep.
5. Create a greenhouse effect:
Cover the container with a plastic bottle to keep moisture in. This mini greenhouse will help the rose root better.
6. Be patient:
Place the container in a warm, bright spot. In about 20-30 days, you should see the rosebud start to open and roots begin to grow from the onion.
7. Transplant the rose:
When the roots are strong enough, carefully move the rose to a bigger pot with loose soil. To help it grow, you can use an organic fertilizer, like fish meal.
8. Care for the rose:
Water your rose regularly, feed it, prune it, and protect it from pests and diseases, just like you would with any other rose bush.
In time, your rose will grow into a lush, beautiful bush, rewarding you with gorgeous flowers for many years to come.
